Resume of Judge Marion Dee Ward (USA)
My parents, Robert and Dolly Ward(both AKC judges) had Samoyeds before they had children! Therefore I have grown up in the purebred dog sport!
First learning a keen appreciation for the Samoyed from showing in both conformation and obedience and running Sams in harness from the age of 6!
I ran my Sams & Siberians ( along with an occasional Irish Setter at lead) for nearly 20 years traveling to races from CA to Idaho to CO and places in between.
I have given numerous seminars on all three Arctic breeds on structure and ‘form and function’ in the sled dog.
I have bred multiple BIS & BISS Samoyeds ( Hoof ‘n Paw Samoyeds est 1966) Owned and showed a BISS and Group winning Siberian (CH Nuggetuks Frost Bite), bred his daughter in partnership with Brenda Valletta ( Wildestar) producing four males! I attend the SHCA National whenever I can as I love the breed AND they are a FUN bunch of people 😉
I’ve been approved to judge since 1977- getting Sams first then the Siberian Husky and Malamute a few years later! I have judged the Working Group for over 20 years – I’ve been fortunate to have judged in numerous countries in Europe, Scandinavia, and Asia- a highlight was having my Newfoundland female go BIS at the 1999 Turku show in Finland! Most recently I judged at the Dansk Polar Cup in Denmark adjudicating on all three of the Arctic breeds!
