Start a H.U.G.
A Husky User Group!
The 18th October event was a great success!
Thanks to everyone who came long and to Adrienne
for being the contact point and organising such great snacks.
Check this page for more events in the future.
When the weekend comes and you've got nowhere to take your sibes...
When your dogs just give you a bored look every time you turn up at the park...
When the job of controlling your huskies around fluffy white yappetisers loses its appeal...
That's when you need a H.U.G!
HUGs can only be listed by members of SHCNSW, but all sibe owners are welcome to turn up - we just ask that you to let the HUG organiser know you're coming along, as a courtesy. It's a great way to get to know club members, or just meet up with your regular friends and canine companions for some fun activities. Read more at the bottom of this page.
List of HUGs and Contacts
Club members can start their own HUG at any time by emailing hugs@shcnsw.org.au.

A few hours of off-leash fun at a fully fenced dog park that also has waste bins, plastic bags and water bowls. Fences are 6' chain link, and the park is double gated for safety. Breakfast is available for purchase from the cafe / kiosk next door to the park and maybe bring picnic rugs and chairs for when the dogs have tired themselves out.
A walk option around the picturesque playing fields adjacent to the dog park is also available for those who have sibes that may not get on perfectly with other dogs, or for those humans who'd like to enjoy some exercise as well!

All About HUGs
What is a HUG?
Just like Bicycle User Groups, A Husky User Group is a local group of club members and their friends, dedicated to promoting social activities and having fun with huskies. Each HUG has a coordinator who can be contacted if you'd like to find out more about that HUG. Any club member can also start a HUG and your HUG can go for a walk, meet at a dog-friendly cafe, get in some sledding practice or just hang around in your favourite park of a weekend, the choice is yours!
What makes HUGs different?
While the club regularly organises many fantastic events big enough for all members to attend, HUGs are designed to be local and so can happen at times and places that might be more convenient, and so can happen more often. A HUG might get together once a week or only once a year, it's up to the individual HUG to decide, and schedules can easily be changed.
What's on in my area?
HUGs will be trialled on this web site and scheduled activities for each HUG listed on this page, so visit regularly for updates on times and places. Information about events may change without notice so please check this page for any last minute information.
How do I start a HUG?
- Give your HUG a name, e.g. Maitland Morning HUG or Hornsby HUG
- Decide where and when you'd like to meet, e.g. weekly, monthly or on specific dates
- Describe in a few words what you do when your HUG meets
- Email your name and phone number to hugs@shcnsw.org.au and we'll list the info here
Then you can invite club members and friends to join you, and other members can also see where you plan to meet. No problem if your schedule changes, just email hugs@shcnsw.org.au and your HUG's information will be updated. If there are enough HUGs registered, a self-help system for managing your own HUG will also be created so you can make changes yourself from your web browser.
